Crista Rowe is the artist behind the masks of Facades. She started making masks in 2007 as presents for friends.

"When I made the first mask it was strictly a fanwork based off of something I saw in a movie. I liked it quite a bit and it was hard to part with it, but I know it went to a good home.

Shortly after I gave it away it occurred to me that masks could be rather fun to wear during the Renaissance Festivals that I frequently attend each year. I think that was the beginning of the end.

I've since taken to collecting materials to use when making masks virtually everywhere I am. My apartment is slowly turning into a supply warehouse!

The supplies are fun to look for and I think one of the best parts of the process. I've gotten so many now that it's hard to decide what to use on each mask.

I also try very hard to maintain a certain level of quality. My goal with each and every mask is to make it as seamless and professional as possible."
